Why this belongs in the FermiLabs story

FermiLabs is not only software and electronics. The furnace programme turns thermal design, materials and fabrication into the experiment.

The portfolio describes multiple experimental furnaces and insulating materials developed for melting, forging and heat treatment. Different alloys and tempering temperatures were tested to study how composition and thermal cycle influence mechanical behaviour.

Air-injection systems and refractory-chamber configurations were also varied, connecting applied thermodynamics with experimental metallurgy through hardware that can be built, heated, modified and compared.
